Dr. Daniel A. Wartinbee, M.D.

Dr. Daniel Anthony Wartinbee is a fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon, who has more than 20 years of medical and orthopaedic practice experience. Dr. Wartinbee treats and specializes in injuries of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. He is dedicated to providing his patients with the most comprehensive and compassionate care, and Dr. Wartinbee has frequently been awarded and recognized for his skill. His excellent results and bedside manner earned him the recognition as the “Best Orthopaedic Doctor in Charleston,” by HealthLinks Magazine in 2022.

Dr. Daniel Wartinbee has been a partner in his practice in Charleston for over 10 years. He graduated with the highest honors, summa cum laude, from Vanderbilt University. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then went on to complete his 5-year orthopaedic residency, and a subsequent one-year fellowship, in hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity surgery at Duke University. At prestigious Duke University, he trained with world-renowned experts in the field of orthopaedics and he became an expert in hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow operative and non-operative treatment options. He learned the most cutting edge and advanced techniques to help his patients recover quickly, and with excellent outcomes. 

Dr. Wartinbee in Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, and maintains an active status in many honorary medical societies. He joined South Carolina Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center because of its strong reputation for excellent doctors who match top-notch care with great personalities.

Besides being awarded “Best Orthopaedic Doctor in Charleston,” Dr. Wartinbee has received many honors including a Residents and Fellows Traveling Scholarship for the 28th Annual Adrian E. Flatt Residents and Fellows Conference in Hand Surgery and the 65th Annual Meeting of the ASSH, an Excellence in Patient Care Award from the Asheville Veterans Administration, numerous Gold Star Awards for excellence in patient care from Duke University Hospital, and received the Bruce J. Brewer Endowed Student Award in Orthopaedic Surgery for outstanding performance in Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr Wartinbee is a third generation Medical Doctor. He became interested in medicine as he watched his father practice orthopaedic surgery. His maternal grandfather was also the first Radiation Therapist in the state of Wisconsin. Though his grandfather passed away at a young age, the stories from his patients and those he helped in the community, instilled in Dr. Wartinbee the desire to help others by fulfilling his dream of becoming a doctor.

When not working, Dr. Wartinbee enjoys spending time with his family in the lowcountry. He loves fishing, boating, and exploring the history of the beautiful city that he calls home.
